With almost 1,800 MMboe / d, production in the Santos Basin exceeds 70% of the national total

(ANP) Published today the Monthly Bulletin of the Production of Oil and Natural Gas of the ANP of the month of March 2021, with consolidated data of the national production in the period. For the first time, production in the Santos Basin surpassed 70% of national production, registering its largest relative share in the historical series and the sixth largest, to date, in absolute values. In total, 2.56 MMboe / d (million barrels of oil equivalent per day) were produced, of which approximately 1.993 MMbbl / d (million barrels per day) of oil and 90 MMm3 / d (million cubic meters per day) of natural gas.

National production was approximately 2.844 MMbbl / d of oil and 126 MMm3 / d of natural gas, totaling 3,637 MMboe / d. In relation to the previous month, there was an increase of 0.9% in oil production and a 3.9% decrease in natural gas. In comparison with March 2020, there was a 4.3% reduction in oil and an increase of 3.6% in natural gas.

The information is also available, interactively, on the Dynamic Panel for Oil and Natural Gas Production.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production was 2,097 MMbbl / d of oil and 89.4 MMm3 of natural gas, totaling 2,660 MMboe / d. There was an increase of 2.4% in relation to the previous month and of 6.7% if compared to the same month in 2020. Pre-salt production originated in 118 wells and corresponded to 73.1% of the total produced in Brazil, reaching the highest percentage ever recorded in relation to the national total.

Use of natural gas

In March, the use of natural gas was 97.5%. 50.1 MMm³ / day was made available to the market. The gas flaring in the month was 3.1 MMm³ / d, a reduction of 8.7% compared to the previous month and 6.6% if compared to the same month in 2020.

Origin of production

In this month of March, offshore fields produced 96.7% of oil and 86.5% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras were responsible for 94.5% of the oil and natural gas produced in Brazil.

Highlights

In March, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, registering 862 MMbbl / d of oil and 40.2 MMm3 / d of natural gas.

The Petrobras 75 platform, producing in the Búzios field through four wells connected to it, produced 154.372 Mbbl / d of oil and was the facility with the highest oil production.

The Polo Arara installation, producing in the fields of Arara Azul, Carapaúna, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu and Sudoeste Uruco, through 32 wells interconnected to it, produced 7.202 MMm³ / d and was the installation with the highest production of natural gas.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of onshore producing wells: 1,032.

Tupi, in the Santos Basin, was the offshore field with the largest number of producing wells: 56.

Marginal accumulation fields

These fields produced 373.9 boe / d, 89.4 bbl / d of oil and 45.2 Mm³ / d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer, with 280.9 boe / d.

Other information

In March 2021, 258 concession areas , 3 transfer of rights areas for consideration and 5 sharing areas, operated by 36 companies, were responsible for national production. Of these, 61 are offshore and 197 are onshore, with 10 relating to contracts for areas containing marginal accumulations. Production took place in 6,436 wells, 465 offshore and 5,971 onshore.

The average API grade of oil extracted in Brazil was 28.2, with 2.7% of production considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 90.6% average oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 6.8% heavy oil (<22 API).

The mature onshorel basins (fields / long-term tests in the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 97.1 Mboe / d, 76.9 thousand bbl / d of oil and 3.2 MMm³ / d of natural gas. Of this total, 76,900 boe / d were produced by Petrobras and 19,800 boe / d were produced by concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which: 12,721 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte, 6,172 boe / d in Bahia , 456 boe / d in Espírito Santo, 250 boe / d in Alagoas and 200 boe / d in Sergipe.
