Petrobras to anticipate first oil from P-80 to first quarter of 2027

Aug 9 – Petrobras is working to bring forward the start of production for the P-80 platform, scheduled for the Búzios field in the Santos Basin. According to the company’s Director of Engineering, Technology, and Innovation, Renata Baruzzi, the goal is to achieve first oil from the unit in the first quarter of 2027 rather than the second.

“We are always looking for such opportunities. Our main focus right now is trying to advance the P-80’s first oil from the second quarter of 2027 to the first quarter of 2027,” the executive stated during a press conference this Friday (7).

However, advancing the schedule will depend on factors beyond the company’s control. Baruzzi explained that weather conditions in the second half of the year could hinder platform installation operations, particularly anchoring and line interconnection work. “We will make the effort, but not everything depends solely on Petrobras,” she said.

The P-80 is one of the units Petrobras currently has under construction for the development of the Búzios field. In addition to the P-80, Petrobras has six other platforms under construction for pre-salt projects. According to Renata Baruzzi, three units—the P-80, P-82, and P-83—are destined for the development of Búzios. Two others, the P-84 and P-85, will be used for the Atapu and Sépia projects.

The remaining units are the P-81 (also known as SEAP 1) and the P-87, destined for the Sergipe Deepwater (Sergipe Águas Profundas) project. According to the director, both platforms are still in the detailed design phase. The contract for these units was signed with SBM Offshore in May of this year.

The company is also conducting bidding processes for two new units. One of them is related to the revitalization project for Marlim—or Albacora—while the other will be allocated to the development of Búzios 12.
