July 13 – Halliburton announced today (13) the signing of integrated contracts for well construction on the GranMorgu project—operated by TotalEnergies in the deep waters of Suriname. The agreement covers drilling and completion services for a long-term program and incorporates digital and automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
“Securing these contracts demonstrates the value of integrated execution, collaboration, and digital technologies in complex deepwater projects. The development of GranMorgu shows how aligned teams and advanced well-construction capabilities contribute to safe, efficient delivery and the maximization of value for our customers’ assets,” said Franco Delano, Halliburton’s Vice President for the Caribbean.
The company will utilize integrated digital workflows, real-time data monitoring, and remote control of drilling and completion operations to increase well-construction precision and ensure greater execution reliability. According to Halliburton, these technologies connect surface operations with reservoir activities, helping to boost hydrocarbon recovery and reduce total project costs for TotalEnergies.
The project also includes investments in infrastructure and initiatives aimed at strengthening the local supply chain. As part of the contract scope, Halliburton worked with Surinamese companies to modernize its drilling fluid and cement plant. Additionally, the company supported the construction of the country’s first maintenance and repair center for drilling and completion equipment, featuring advanced technologies to support offshore operations.
Halliburton also stated that it will prioritize hiring local professionals and suppliers, aiming to contribute to Suriname’s economic development and the expansion of the country’s offshore industry. According to the company, the project also establishes a new cooperation model by bringing together Halliburton, TotalEnergies, and Noble in a global alliance for the first time.
The company adds that the initiative incorporates technologies such as electrification, automation, and advanced digital workflows to increase operational efficiency, standardize processes, and reduce emission intensity. A common digital platform will also enable the gradual integration of intelligent fracturing systems and advanced subsurface monitoring.
