Staatsolie to take Suriname offshore licensing pitch to Houston

April 30 (oilnow.gy) Staatsolie will host an in-person roadshow in Houston on May 26, 2026, to present Suriname’s Open-Door Offering to oil and gas companies.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon CDT at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown, 1600 W Loop S, Houston, Texas.

Staatsolie said in an April 28 LinkedIn post that senior representatives will present the basin’s opportunities and the terms for participation. Companies attending the roadshow will also be able to book one-on-one meetings with senior executives and technical staff after the main event.

Staatsolie launched the Open-Door Offering on November 24, 2025, to attract new investors to Suriname’s offshore acreage through a flexible licensing process.

The offering covers about 60% of Suriname’s offshore acreage and includes more than 90 identified leads supported by multiple working petroleum systems. Companies can select acreage, propose their own work programs, and choose between a Production Sharing Contract, a Joint Study Agreement, or a Technical Evaluation Agreement.

Staatsolie said the offering includes competitive fiscal terms and a stable investment environment.

The company has also introduced a GeoPortal, giving companies an interactive view of available geological and geophysical data. Datasets can be leased at discounted rates. Staatsolie has also published the GeoAtlas of Suriname, a free resource on the country’s geology and petroleum potential.

All proposed acreage under the initiative will be posted on Staatsolie’s Open-Door Offering webpage, starting a 90-day window for competing proposals.

Suriname has long produced oil onshore, but its offshore sector is now moving toward large-scale development.

The GranMorgu project in Block 58 is expected to start production in 2028. The development is designed for about 220,000 barrels of oil production per day and carries a cost of more than US$10 billion.
