ANP forecasts 29% increase in production from Brazilian onshore fields by 2029

(PN) Oil and natural gas production in Brazil’s onshore fields is expected to continue growing over the next five years, according to projections released by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). By 2029, extraction from onshore wells could increase by around 29%, according to data presented in the 2025 Annual Production Programs (PAPs). These documents are sent by oil companies to the ANP and detail estimates for the production and movement of oil, natural gas and other fluids for the period 2025 to 2029.

Projections indicate that, by 2028, production could return to 2016 levels, when it reached 298.9 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. According to the ANP, this growth reflects the positive impact of the regulatory measures implemented by the agency to stimulate onshore production.

In 2024, onshore production was 232.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. For 2025, the projection is 242.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. In 2026, the estimate points to 262.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. In 2027, the ANP forecasts production of 292.6 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. Finally, in 2028 and 2029, onshore companies should extract 300.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day and 295.3 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, respectively.
