Ocean Winds and Prumo Logistica sign MOU to promote Offshore Wind energy initiatives

(PN) Ocean Winds (OW), an international company dedicated to offshore wind energy and created as a 50-50 joint venture in 2020 by EDP Renewables and ENGIE global, and PRUMO LOGÍSTICA, one of the main players in the logistics and infrastructure sector in Brazil, joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that reinforces the two companies’ commitment to promoting offshore wind energy initiatives in the country. The MoU was formalized today with the signature of Bautista Rodriguez, CEO of Ocean Winds, Mauro Andrade, Director of New Business at PRUMO LOGÍSTICA consolidating the shared vision for the future of offshore wind energy in Brazil , at a time when the country intends to have the legal framework for the industry by the end of the year.

The partnership will allow the exchange of pertinent information related to studies aimed at analyzing an offshore wind energy project within the area of influence of Porto do Açu. OW and PRUMO are committed to expanding their respective operations and optimizing results as a result of this collaboration. This joint effort involves performing different critical studies for offshore wind energy projects, such as environmental or regulatory studies, along with financial and technical feasibility assessments.

For Mauro Andrade, Director of New Business at Prumo, the partnership shows that Porto do Açu is the best point in the country to install these projects: “Signing this agreement with OW shows that we are advancing in the objective of making Açu the main installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance base for marine wind farms in the Southeast Region. The proximity of future offshore wind farms. The existing logistics and maritime support at the port, which already serves the oil and gas industry, will also serve the offshore wind segment. The installation of the value chain with turbines, wind blades, cables and towers will make Porto do Açu the most competitive infrastructure to serve this emerging industry”.
