Repsol Sinopec Brasil starts sales of gas from Sapinhoá Norte

Initiative reinforces the company’s commitment to the gas market in Brazil

(TN) Repsol Sinopec Brasil signed a sales contract for the Sapinhoá Norte gas with Petrogal Brasil, reinforcing its participation in the natural gas value chain in Brazil.

With this contract, which is the first in this modality, the company began marketing this gas as of January 1, 2022.

The operation was made possible thanks to a Swap agreement, through which the rich gas is sold to Petrobras at the entrance to the Cabiúnas Processing Plant, which is part of the Integrated Processing System, and purchased already processed on output.

These agreements represent a milestone in the opening of the gas market in Brazil, allowing for a more diversified offer from pre-salt gas producers.

“Repsol Sinopec believes in the great potential of the gas market in Brazil and in Brazilian gas as a protagonist in the energy transition, ensuring the supply of energy in a safe and stable manner, in addition to allowing integration with renewable energy sources”, says Mariano Ferrari, CEO of Repsol Sinopec Brasil.
