Ouro Negro and Superior Energy Services announce strategic partnership

Fully electrical completion of wells is the main focus of the two companies, which combine expertise to provide integrated solutions in this area

Ouro Negro and Superior Energy Services announce a strategic partnership to provide integrated solutions in the area of wells, especially in more complex environments, such as pre-salt and ultra-deep waters. By adding Superior Energy’s consolidated expertise in half a century of international operations and Ouro Negro’s R&D and innovation capacity, the two partners intend to provide a portfolio of disruptive solutions for the completion of all-electric wells for oil companies operating in Brazil and abroad.

RESUMPTION OF EXPLORATION

Exploration activities should resume the upward curve, after the impact on offshore activities resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, including the drilling of wells established in the exploration activities program, and stipulated by the Discovery Assessment Plan (PADs)

According to the Exploration Superintendence of the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), there are 35 Discovery Assessment Plans (PADs) in progress, of which 21 are offshore (9 of which in the Santos and Campos basins and 5 in Sergipe). 15 PADs are suspended and 11 are classified as postponing the declaration of commerciality (81% at sea). Of the 29 exploratory wells planned for 2020, 16 were drilled (5 at sea and 11 on land). By the end of 2021, according to the ANP, 38 wells are planned, totaling R$5.3 billion in investments. Eight exploratory wells have already been drilled this year, 4 onshore and 4 in offshore basins – of these, 3 are in operation, 2 in the Campos basin and 1 in the Espírito Santo basin, operated by consortia comprising Petrobras, ExxonMobil, Equinor and Total Energies, according to ANP data.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP

“Ouro Negro has reiterated the importance of partnerships to leverage RD&I, in order to support the oil and gas industry, especially in strategic activities such as offshore exploration and production (E&P), in which companies have emphasized the importance to speed up some steps, such as drilling and completion of wells. Therefore, nothing is more natural than creating a partnership that adds value and provides even more agility, safety and efficiency in this activity”, points out Ouro Negro CEO, Eduardo Costa. “We have a highly qualified team in the well engineering area, which has been generating disruptive solutions, tested and qualified in laboratories and by customers. Therefore, we know that we are a partner that will always add up!”, he concludes

“The technological partnership with Ouro Negro is strategic and a fundamental step in the process of evolution and digitization of well completion systems, in addition to meeting the market demand for digitally integrated and high reliability completion systems”, says the Manager Regional Business Development at Superior Energy Services, Frederico Carvalho.
