VERÔNICA COELHO WILL ASSUME THE PRESIDENCY OF EQUINOR IN BRAZIL AS OF FEBRUARY

The company announced on Tuesday news of chances in the high command in Brazil. The executive Veronica Rezende Coelho  will start as president of the company in Brazil as of February 1st. She will assume the role that is being performed on an interim basis by Leticia Andrade, who has been in command since the retirement of Margareth Øvrum.

“Equinor has built, since 2001, a strong and very competent local organization, with a solid foundation in our values. I am very proud of the opportunity and full of energy to continue implementing the group’s strategy in Brazil. Our three global strategic pillars – always safe, high value and low carbon – also guide our way here in Brazil and with that, we generate value for the company, for our shareholders and for the local society ”, stated Veronica.

The executive has been on the Equinor team since 2007. With a history of leadership in the company, she has already served in Brazil as senior vice president of Strategy and Portfolio, being a member of the executive committee of the oil company in the country.

Equinor enjoys a very close relationship with Brazil, where it has invested more than US$ 11 billion. For the next decade, the company’s idea is to invest another US$ 15 billion in its exploration and production portfolio in the country. The company’s highlight is the operation of the Bacalhau field, in the pre-salt of the Santos basin. Equinor has already hired Japanese company Modec to build the asset’s FPSO, which will be the largest in Brazil in terms of production capacity (220 thousand barrels per day). In the renewable energy sector, Equinor is licensing two offshore wind farms in Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo; and a stake in the Apodi solar plant, in Ceará.
