The secretary of oil and natural gas of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, José Mauro Ferreira, announced that the government should approve in December the so-called Promar – Mature Offshore Fields Revitalization and Incentive Program. The announcement was made during the opening of the Mossoró Oil & Gas event in Rio Grande do Norte.
“In this program, we are going to develop important actions for offshore mature fields and also fields of marginal economy. And, of course, the state of Rio Grande do Norte will also benefit from this ”, projected the secretary. The new program should be similar to the Reate – Program for the Revitalization of the Exploration and Production of Oil and Natural Gas in Onshore Areas.
The revitalization of mature fields promises to increase the recovery factor of these areas, in addition to attracting investments and stimulating the development of new technologies. Other than that, the sale of Petrobras’ assets with this profile should attract new smaller oil companies to the Brazilian market.
Recently, the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) said that the Campos Basin, for example, will receive at least R$ 10 billion in new investments in the coming years from the divestments of Petrobras. The amount is related to the new development plans approved for 14 shallow water fields in the region.
