Total production in pre-salt rose 8.2% in the previous month.

Total production of oil and natural gas in Brazil in June totaled 3,210 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d), surpassing the previous record achieved in August 2015, when Brazil produced 3,171 MMboe / d. Oil production was approximately 2.558 million barrels per day (bbl / d), an increase of 2.9% compared to the previous month and 6.8% over the same month in 2015. The oil production surpassed the record reached in August 2015, when Brazil produced 2,547 MMbbl / d.  Natural gas production totaled 103.5 million cubic meters per day (m³ / d), surpassing the previous record of 100.4 MMm3 / d obtained in December 2015, representing an increase of 3.7% compared to May 2016 and 8.4% compared to June 2015.

Subsalt

The production of pre-salt, coming from 59 wells was approximately one million barrels of oil per day (bbl / d) of oil and 38.1 million cubic meters per day (m³ / d) of natural gas, totaling 1,240 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d), an increase of 8.2% over the previous month. The production of oil in the subsalt exceeded 928.9 Mbbl / d obtained in May 2016 and natural gas exceeded 35 MMm3 produced in March 2016. Total production also surpassed the record of the previous month, from 1,146 MMboe / d. The wells of the “pre-salt” are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt fields located in the area defined in section IV of art. 2 of Law No. 12,351, 2010.

Flaring

The natural gas utilization in the month was 96.6%. The gas flaring in June was 3.5 million cubic meters per day (m³ / d), a decrease of 3.8% compared to the previous month and decreased 2.5% compared to the same month in 2015.

Producing fields

The offshore fields produced 94% of oil and 77.6% of natural gas. The production took place in 8,869 wells, 773 offshore and 8,096 onshore. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 94.1% of the oil and natural gas.

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, producing on average 519,000 bbl / d of oil and 22.7 million cubic meters / day of natural gas.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,090. Marlim field in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 61.

The FPSO Cidade de Mangaratiba in Lula field, produced through 5 wells connected to it, 172,400 BOE / d and was the PSU (Production Stationary Unit) with greater production.

Land mature basins (fields / long-term testing of the basins of Espirito Santo, Potiguar, Reconcavo, Sergipe and Alagoas) produced 156,900 boe / d and 127,900 bbl / d of oil and 4.6 million m³ / d of natural gas. Of this total, 152.2 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 4,700 boe / d by grants not operated by Petrobras, with 354 boe / d in Alagoas, 1,889 boe / d in Bahia, 31 boe / d in the Holy Spirit, 2,395 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 17 boe / d in Sergipe.

Other information

In June 2016, 296 concessions operated by 24 companies, were responsible for domestic production. Of these, 78 are offshore concessions and 218 onshore.
