McDermott-CB&I $6B merger complete

Offshore engineering, construction, and installation company McDermott International has expanded its capabilities, becoming an onshore-offshore EPCI specialist, as it closed the acquisition of CB&I on Thursday. The new company, described as the “premier, fully integrated provider of technology, engineering and construction solutions for the energy industry” will continue under the name McDermott. Read more

Seismic player Polarcus returned to profit in the first quarter of the year despite lower revenues. Polarcus on Friday posted a net profit of $2.8 million for the first quarter of 2018, compared to a net loss of $38 million in the corresponding period of 2017. Read more

Five Japanese firms invest in Petrobras-chartered FPSO

Five Japanese firms have teamed up to build an FPSO to be chartered to the Brazilian oil company Petrobras. Mitsui, MOL, Marubeni, and Mitsui E&S will invest in a long-term charter business currently promoted by the Japanese FPSO specialist MODEC, related to the provision of an FPSO for Petrobras’ Mero field offshore Brazil.
