Petrobras signs long-term agreement for the purchase and sale of Liquefied Natural Gas with U.S. company Sempra Infrastructure

Sept. 14 – Petrobras has signed a long-term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement with Sempra Infrastructure, a U.S. company and subsidiary of Sempra (NYSE: SRE).

The agreement, signed at the end of August, provides for Petrobras to purchase 0.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG for a period of 20 years, with supply from the Port Arthur LNG Liquefaction Terminal in Texas, United States.

Securing long-term volumes helps reduce Petrobras’ exposure to spot market volatility, strengthens the risk management of its natural gas portfolio, and enhances the company’s ability to fulfil its contracts with greater flexibility and security.

The Port Arthur LNG Liquefaction Terminal, currently under construction by Sempra Infrastructure in Texas, United States, has access to U.S. natural gas resources and integrated logistics infrastructure and is located on the Texas coast (USA). Sempra Infrastructure develops, builds, operates and invests in energy infrastructure assets, including LNG projects, energy networks and low-carbon solutions.
