July 15 – Petrobras has extended the bid submission deadline for the Búzios 12 project FPSO ( P-91) by 180 days. The original deadline was September 9 of this year. Interested suppliers now have more time to prepare their offers, a move Petrobras believes will likely increase competition for the contract.
The oil company chose to extend the deadline because many suppliers are also participating in the tender to build the Albacora FPSO. With more time, bidders can dedicate themselves to both competitions.
Another factor was the ongoing qualification process for a new, higher-capacity Chinese turbine that could make a difference to the project. The equipment is in the final stages of certification; if utilized, it is believed to have the potential to lower costs and advance the FPSO’s delivery schedule by a year.
Búzios 12 will serve as an export hub for gas produced at the Búzios field in the Santos Basin pre-salt area. In addition to systems for processing and separating its own output, the unit will be capable of exporting gas produced by other platforms in the field that were not originally designed for gas export.
This solution was devised to ensure the utilization of Búzios gas and to expand the natural gas supply to the Brazilian market. The exported gas will be routed to the Boaventura Energy Complex in Itaboraí (Rio de Janeiro state) via the Rota 3 pipeline.
The platform will be connected to 16 wells—8 producers and 8 alternating water and gas injectors—with a capacity to produce 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
