Ocean Installer Announces Contract with Equinor for Well Tie-In Projects in the Bacalhau Field

June 11 – Ocean Installer, a wholly owned subsidiary of Moreld ASA, has been contracted by Equinor to execute the well tie-in scope for the Bacalhau field in the Santos Basin. The contract is for 4.5 years, with options for extension and rigid jumper fabrication.

The scope includes the installation of rigid well jumpers between production lines and subsea trees, the installation of flying leads, and associated pre-commissioning activities. The work will cover several wells throughout the contract, with the first offshore campaign scheduled for 2027. Bacalhau is Equinor’s largest international offshore field and the first Brazilian pre-salt asset to be fully developed by an international operator.

“This contract represents a level change for Moreld,” stated Geir Austigard, CEO of Moreld. “This is Ocean Installer’s first contract in Brazil. The scope involves production-critical activities at a major international asset operated by Equinor, reflecting Ocean Installer’s ability to deliver results safely, reliably, and consistently over time,” he added.

In parallel with securing the contract, Ocean Installer recently established a subsidiary in Brazil and integrated its first local employees, laying the groundwork for a permanent and scalable presence in the world’s largest subsea project market.

“The project’s long duration provides a solid foundation for building our local organization in Brazil. The country is an attractive market with a significant volume of subsea projects planned for the coming years, and we see a strong alignment between these opportunities and Ocean Installer’s core competencies,” stated Kevin Murphy, CEO of Ocean Installer.
