Brazil registered another record in oil and gas production in April, with 5.640 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d)

June 3 – Brazil registered a record in oil and gas production in April, with 5.640 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). The data was released by the ANP in the Monthly Bulletin of Oil and Natural Gas Production. The previous record was registered last month (March 2026), when 5.531 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe/d) of oil and gas were produced.

Regarding oil, 4.340 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, a positive variation of 2.2% compared to the previous month and an increase of 19.5% compared to the same month of 2025.

Natural gas production in April was 206.70 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). There was a 1.3% increase compared to March and a 23% increase compared to April 2025.

Pre-salt
Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt layer also reached a new record in April: 4.614 million boe/d, corresponding to 81.8% of Brazilian production. There was a 3% increase compared to the previous month and a 23.6% increase compared to the same month in 2025.

3.568 million bbl/d of oil and 166.40 million m³/d of natural gas were produced through 189 wells.

Natural gas utilization
In April, natural gas utilization was 97.8%. 63.54 million m³/d were made available to the market and 4.52 million m³/d were flared. There was a 17.2% decrease in flaring compared to the previous month, and a 9.3% decrease compared to April 2025.

Production Origin
In the month, offshore fields produced 98.1% of the oil and 88% of the natural gas. Fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 88.98% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,118 wells, 592 offshore and 5,526 onshore.

Fields and Facilities
In April, the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest oil producer, registering 910,100 bbl/d. The field with the highest natural gas production was Mero, also in the Santos Basin, with 46.22 million m³/d.

The installations with the highest production were the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, in the Búzios/Tambuatá/Búzios ECO field (sharing contract for the surplus volume of the onerous transfer), for oil (248,587 bbl/d); and the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, in the Mero field, for gas (13.08 million m³/d).
