April 2 (ANP) Brazil broke its record for oil and natural gas production in February, with 5.304 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). The previous record was set in October 2025, with 5.255 million boe/d. There were also records in separate oil and gas production. The data was released today (April 1st) by the ANP in its Monthly Bulletin of Oil and Natural Gas Production.
Regarding oil, 4.061 million barrels per day (bbl/d) were extracted, a positive variation of 2.7% compared to the previous month and an increase of 16.4% compared to the same month in 2025.
Natural gas production in February was 197.63 million cubic meters per day (m³/d). Brazilian production in the pre-salt layer increased by 2.3% compared to January and by 24.5% compared to February 2025.
Pre-salt
Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt layer in February was 4.243 million boe/d, representing 80.2% of Brazilian production. This represents a 2.3% increase compared to the previous month and a 20.1% increase compared to the same month in 2025.
3.264 million bbl/d of oil and 155.56 million m³/d of natural gas were produced through 181 wells.
Natural gas utilization
In February, natural gas utilization was 97.1%. 65.42 million m³/d were made available to the market, and 5.82 million m³/d were flared. There was a 2.4% increase in flaring compared to the previous month, and an 18.6% increase compared to February 2025.
Production Origin
In the month, offshore fields produced 98% of the oil and 87.8% of the natural gas. Fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 89.46% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,079 wells, 582 offshore and 5,497 onshore.
Fields and Facilities
In February, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil, registering 865,980 bbl/d, and of natural gas, with 42.87 million m³/d.
The installations with the highest production were the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, in the Búzios Field, for oil (197,903 bbl/d); and the FPSO Marechal Duque de Caxias, in the Mero field, for gas (12.37 million m³/d).
