Petrobras studying initiatives to increase production at the Tupi Field

(PN) Petrobras is conducting two initiatives focused on Tupi, the country’s largest producing field, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer. The company’s Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia dos Anjos, announced that the asset is receiving special attention with the aim of extracting more value and increasing production in the area. Furthermore, the company is considering the possibility of contracting a new platform for the field.

Petrobras is implementing the “Tupi Mais Valor” program, with more than 200 people involved, including partners. “We are seeking to increase production, improve water injection, and, within this process, evaluating the installation of a new production unit.” She emphasized, however, that studies for a new platform in Tupi are still in the initial phase.

The executive also mentioned other initiatives focused on the field, which include expanding the network with multiple wells, extending the FPSO’s productive lifespan, conducting seismic campaigns, and applying 4D technology to maximize asset optimization. Petrobras aims to increase Tupi’s production to 1 million barrels per day.

The director also revealed that for the Sapinhoá field, located in the Santos Basin, the strategy follows the same approach adopted at Tupi: revitalizing and maximizing existing potential. The plan involves assessing the productive lifespan of the assets and, if necessary, implementing projects that are economically viable in the current scenario. “The increased production of each field is being handled with great care.

“We are managing these giant fields with the attention they deserve, as if they were truly the apple of our eye. We need to produce more, operate better, and we are already seeing results—Tupi is responding, as are the others. Our goal is to avoid production curves that only rise and then fall, striving to maintain a plateau. This applies to Tupi, Mero, and Buzios, which are our targets,” stated Sylvia.
