Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras informs that it has signed a long-term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) purchase and sale agreement with the British company Centrica. The agreement represents an important step in the company’s strategy, as it reduces exposure to spot prices, increases competitiveness and assures greater security of supply of natural gas to Brazil.
The contract provides for Petrobras to purchase 0.8 million tons per year (mtpa) of LNG for a period of 15 years starting in 2027. Supply will be made from Centrica’s portfolio, including the Sabine Pass and Delfin LNG liquefaction plants. The agreement is subject to the taking of the Final Investment Decision for the Delfin LNG project, currently under development by Delfin Midstream.
Centrica is a leading global energy company based in the UK. The company focuses on supplying natural gas, electricity and related services to residential, commercial and industrial customers in several countries.
