Brazil October production at 4.502 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d)

ANP released the Monthly Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin for October 2023, which provides consolidated data on national production. Total production (oil + natural gas) was 4.502 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe/d).

Regarding oil, 3.543 million barrels per day (MMbbl/d) were extracted, a reduction of 3.5% compared to the previous month and an increase of 9.2% compared to October 2022.

Natural gas production in October was 152.51 million cubic meters per day (MMm³/d). There was a 3.5% drop compared to September 2023 and a 2.5% increase compared to October 2022.

Pre-salt

Total production (oil + natural gas) in the pre-salt, in October, was 3.441 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) and corresponded to 76.4% of Brazilian production.
This number represents a reduction of 4.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 9.5% compared to the same month in 2022. 2.722 million barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil were produced and 114.23 million cubic meters per day (m³/d) of natural gas through 148 wells.

Use of natural gas

In October, natural gas utilization was 97.6%. 49.35 million m³/d were made available to the market and the burning was 3.73 million m³/d. There was an 11.8% increase in burning compared to the previous month, and 28.4% compared to October 2022.

Origin of production

In October, offshore fields produced 97.6% of oil and 86.2% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 89.28% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,421 wells, 515 offshore and 5,906 onshore.

Fields and Facilities

In October, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and gas, recording 831.08 thousand bbl/d of oil and 40.54 million m³/d of natural gas . The installation with the highest production of oil and natural gas was the FPSO Guanabara in the shared Mero deposit, with 179,752 thousand bbl/d of oil and 11.56 million m³/d of gas.
