The Board of the ANP approved geological and economic studies on the indication of the Jaspe block, located within the Pre-Salt Polygon, in the Campos Basin, for inclusion in future bidding rounds for areas for exploration and production of oil and natural gas.
The block is a result of areas nominated by the industry. The nomination is the indication of an area, by any legal entity in the oil and natural gas industry, for the ANP to study the possibility of offering it in a future bidding round.
According to Resolution CNPE nº 17/17, amended by Resolution CNPE 27/21, the ANP, in the fulfillment of its attributions, must select blocks for future biddings considering the nominations of areas by the industry.
After evaluating the oil potential of the area, the ANP concluded that it is an area with potential Pre-salt structures that, together, total an in place volume of 2.5 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Volume in place (or in situ) is obtained from studies that estimate the original amount of oil or natural gas contained in the reservoir, before any production and/or injection of oil or natural gas.
The ANP studies on the Jaspe block will be analyzed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), which has the legal authority to propose to the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), after consulting the ANP, the definition of the blocks that will be object of bidding rounds, both in the concession model and in the production sharing model, and the parameters to be adopted.
