A new record for the successful history of the Brazilian pre-salt. The National Petroleum Agency (ANP) announced that production in the layer in February totaled 3.268 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, growth of 2.3% compared to January. The volume surpassed the previous record of 3.142 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, recorded in October 2022.

2.566 million barrels of oil per day and 111.55 million cubic meters per day of natural gas were produced through 136 pre-salt wells. Thus, the region accounted for 78.1% of Brazilian production, the highest percentage of participation ever recorded.

The ANP also said that total Brazilian production (adding pre-salt, post-salt and other fields) reached 4.183 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, of which 3.262 million barrels of oil per day and 146.540 million cubic meters of gas per day. It was the highest total production ever recorded, surpassing that of October 2022, when 4.180 million barrels of oil equivalent were produced.

In oil, there was a reduction of 0.4% compared to the previous month and an increase of 11.8% compared to February 2022. In natural gas, production grew 2.3% compared to January 2023 and 10% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and gas, registering 824.5 thousand barrels of oil per day and 38.81 million m³ per day of natural gas.
