Karoon interrupts production in the Bauna and Patola Fields

Karoon Energy announced that it has temporarily stopped production at Baúna and Patola, in the Santos Basin, due to a loss of containment incident associated with the high pressure flare at FPSO Cidade de Itajaí. Altera&Ocyan, operator of the FPSO, mobilized a team of specialists to identify the source of the leak and carry out repairs. These repairs have now been completed.

However, due to the higher than expected flow rates from the Patola wells and the associated pressure it puts on the FPSO processing system, Karoon and Altera&Ocyan have decided to prolong the production interruption to carry out a full inspection and testing of associated systems, and bring forward part of the maintenance program planned for July. As a reminder, as previously reported, Karoon has recently started production in the Patola field, with initial results well above expectations.

Karoon expects inspection and early maintenance work to be completed by mid-April 2023, allowing production to restart.
