Petrobras drills new well in the Aram block, in the Santos Basin pre-salt

(PN) Petrobras advances in its exploratory program in the Santos Basin. The state-owned company recently started drilling a well (3-BRSA-1387D-SPS) in the Aram block, in the pre-salt layer. The well is being drilled in a water depth of 1,977 meters, according to data released by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).

The Aram block is operated by Petrobras (80%) in partnership with the Chinese CNODC (20%). The two companies purchased the area during the 6th Sharing Round, in 2019. At the time, the oil companies disbursed BRL 5.050 billion in signing bonuses and offered 29.96% of surplus oil to the Union.

In November last year, Petrobras announced the conclusion of the formation test in the pioneer well (1-BRSA-1381-SPS) in Aram, in the discovery of Curaçao. At the time, the oil company said that the test served to assess the thick interval of pre-salt carbonate reservoirs, thus making it possible to verify the productivity of the discovery through dynamic production data.

During the test, oil samples were collected that will later be characterized by means of laboratory analyses. The formation test, carried out approximately 6 months after the conclusion of the drilling of the pioneer 1-BRSA-1381-SPS in January 2022, complemented the evaluation of this well based on profiles.
