(PN)French company TotalEnergies notified the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) that it found evidence of oil and gas in block C-M-541, in well 1-TOT-2-RJS, in a water depth of 3,000 meters, in the Campos Basin.
The drilling of the well Marolo-1 began at the end of last year. The activity was carried out by the Valaris DS-15 drillship. TotalEnergies is authorized to drill up to two exploratory wells (Marolo and Ubaia) and three more contingency wells in the block.
Block C-M-541 was acquired during the 16th Bidding Round, held by the ANP in 2019. This was the asset with the highest signing bonus of that auction, in the amount of R$4.029 billion. TotalEnergies is the operator in the area with a 40% stake, in partnership with companies Qatar Petroleum (40%) and Petronas (20%). Currently, this is TotalEnergies’ only exploratory asset in Brazil.
