The National Petroleum Agency (ANP) approved the request for declaration of commerciality for Wahoo, in the Campos Basin, operated by the independent oil company PetroRio. The request had been filed by the company at the end of last year. The field is located in block C-M-101 and has 126 million recoverable barrels of oil (1C), according to the certification of reserves issued in January 2021 by D&M.
The discovery of oil in the field took place in 2008. Wahoo is located about 35 km north of the Frade field, with a water depth of 1,400 meters, and has a carbonate reservoir at a depth of 5 to 7 thousand meters. The Wahoo Development Plan indicates that the field will be interconnected to the Frade FPSO. PetroRio’s idea is to form another production cluster, sharing infrastructure between the Frade and Wahoo fields, as it did with Tubarão Martelo and Polvo.
Wahoo oil is considered to be of excellent quality, with 30º API, low viscosity and associated gas that will be used to generate energy at the Frade FPSO. PetroRio has already announced that it has contracted the Norbe VI rig, from Ocyan, to drill three wells at Frade (one producer and two injectors), followed by four producing wells in Wahoo.
