(PN) The Brazilian Institute for the Environment (Ibama) granted the preliminary license for the production storage and offloading platform (FSO) in the Pargo field, in the Campos Basin. In addition to the vessel, the license also attests to the environmental feasibility of the new 8″ PPG-1A export pipeline. French-British Perenco has been responsible, since October 2019, for the production of oil and natural gas at the Pargo cluster, a production system formed by the Pargo, Vermelho and Carapeba fields, located in shallow waters of the Campos Basin.
Today, the hub has eight platforms. In the Vermelho field are the fixed units PVM-1, PVM-2 and PVM-3; the Carapeba Field has fixed platforms PCP 1, PCP 2 and PCP 3; in Campo de Pargo are the PPG-1A and PPG-1B platforms. The PPG-1A platform receives and processes the entire production of Pargo, Vermelho and Carapeba.
From the PPG-1A platform, after fiscal measurement of production, the oil produced at the Pargo cluster is sold and shipped to the Garoupa platform (PGP-1), which belongs to Petrobras. Perenco’s idea is to install and operate a new system to independently drain, store and transfer the production of oil from Pargo, allowing for a reduction in costs and bringing more autonomy and security until the end of operations at the complex.
The FSO Pargo will be moored approximately 2.5 km away from the PPG-1A platform, at an average depth of 93 m and 72 km from the coast of the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). The pipeline will drain oil from the PPG-1A platform to the FSO. The platform is currently being converted at the Drydocks World shipyard in Dubai from the hull of the Minerva Nike tanker.
