(PetroNoticias) Petrobras began drilling a wildcat well (1-BRSA-1382D-RJS) in the Tres Marias block, in the Santos basin. The activity is being carried out with the Ocean Courage rig, in a water depth of 2223 meters. The information was released by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).
As a reminder, the Tres Marias block was sold during the 4th Sharing Auction, in June 2018. At that time, the winning consortium was formed by Chevron (30%) and Shell (40%), in addition to Petrobras which exercised the right of preference to be the operator of the area, with 30%.
In August, Petrobras had already started drilling another wildcat well in the pre-salt of the Santos basin, in the Aram block. The well was drilled in a water depth of 1,904 meters using the rig Brava Star, from Constellation. Until the beginning of October, Brazil registered 15 wells drilled (seven of them offshore), equaling the level verified throughout the year of 2020.
