(PetroNoticias) Petrobras will intensify its exploratory activity in the coming months. The company confirmed that it will add two more drilling rigs to its fleet: the drill ship Norbe VIII, in the Libra block; and the monocolumn SS-91 (Developer) for projects in the Campos and Santos basins. The two units are expected to start operating by September.
With the addition of these two vessels, Petrobras added 15 rigs since 2019, reaching in September a total of 22 units of the type in operation. This year alone, the NS-45 (Brava Star) drillship was added to the fleet in March; and the SS-75 semi-submersible (OceanCourage), in May.
The NS-45 is expected to be used by the company in the construction of wells throughout the Brazilian pre-salt, in the Campos, Espírito Santo and Santos Basins.
