After having been suspended due to the adverse scenario of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 17th Concession Round of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) will be resumed. The event will take place on October 7, 2021. The restart of the usual procedure for organizing the bid was approved this week during the meeting of the ANP board.
The suspension of the 17th Round was decided by the agency in April. Since then, the agency has seen the need to reconfigure blocks in a sector in the Santos Basin. Based on the evolution of geological studies, with the incorporation of new 3D seismic data recently acquired, the agency decided to unify some blocks that are beyond 200 nautical miles.
Thus, blocks S-M-1617, S-M-1619, S-M-1729 and S-M-1731 were grouped into just one, with the nomenclature S-M-1617 prevailing. Likewise, blocks S-M-1613 and S-M-1615 have also joined together, the name of the former prevailing. The values of the signature bonus and the Minimum Exploratory Program were also updated.
With this new configuration, the 17th Round will offer 92 exploratory blocks, spread across 11 sectors in four basins: Campos, Pelotas, Potiguar and Santos. The changes will also be analyzed by the National Energy Policy Council, which will meet on December 10. With the resumption of the auction, the ANP also approved the public consultation of the public notice and contract for the round.
