A much leaner company. This is the goal of the president of Petrobras, Roberto Castello Branco, who this Wednesday stated that the company should reduce the number of employees from the current 46,600 to 30,000. The executive also revealed that the Voluntary Dismissal Plans (PDVs) underway at the state-owned company had the adhesion of approximately 10,000 employees, representing about 22% of the current total.
“With the departure of those who joined the POS, we go to around 35 thousand, and with the sale of refineries we should probably keep something close to 30 thousand, which is enough for the company to continue to operate well, with lower costs and more efficiently, ”said Castello Branco during an online broadcast promoted by the newspaper Valor Econômico.
Specifically on the sales of the eight refineries, the president also declared that there were no withdrawals in the divestment processes, despite the adverse economic scenario. “Our expectation is still to sign refinery contracts this year, it may be that something will remain for 2021, and the closing of the transactions will be over the course of 2021”, he projected.
Still on the line of cost reduction, Castello Branco said that, by the end of this year, Petrobras will reduce the number of buildings it occupies across the country from the current 17 to just eight. He recalled that the company will adopt the home office for employees in the administrative area by the end of the year. But he also said that half of the employees in the administrative area should switch to teleworking after the coronavirus pandemic.
