The National Petroleum Agency (ANP) indicates that the number of cases of Covid-19 in workers in the oil and gas sector in Brazil has risen to 162. As of yesterday, there were 132. Currently, there are still another 1,020 cases being investigated, awaiting test results. Fortunately, so far, there have been no reported deaths, according to the agency.
As we reported, the first officially announced cases in the O&G sector came from FPSO Capixaba, from SBM Offshore, which is at the service of Petrobrás on the coast of Espírito Santo. Earlier this week, other workers tested positive at the FPSO Cidade de Santos, operated by Japan’s Modec, in the Santos Basin.
According to the ANP, of the total confirmed cases, 78 were on offshore platforms. The agency does not detail in which units the cases occurred, nor does it give details of where the suspected cases were. According to the security protocol, disembarkation is mandatory for infected professionals and also for people who have had contact with those infected.
