Total licenses five wells in the Campos Basin

Total started last Tuesday (18) the environmental licensing in Ibama of five wells, two exploratory and three for evaluation, in the area of ​​exploratory block C-M-541, in the Campos Basin pre-salt. The company signed the concession contract for the area, where it has a partnership with Petronas and QPI, last Friday with the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).

The French oil company is a partner of Petrobras, Shell and the Chinese CNPC and CNOOC in the Mero project, the first production sharing area in the country. It  also operates the Lapa field, an area under the Santos Basin pre-salt concession regime acquired from Petrobras’ divestments and partnerships program.

Last Friday, Shell began licensing new nine wells in the exploration blocks CM-659 and CM-713, in the Campos Basin pre-salt, acquaried by the company in the 16th bidding round of the National Petroleum Agency ( ANP). The licensing process at Ibama was opened shortly after the signing of the concession contracts this Friday morning at the agency’s headquarters.

The company is licensing up to six exploratory wells in the area of ​​block C-M-659, where it can also carry out up to four formation tests.
