In 2016, the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) extended the concession contract for the Ubarana field until 2034. It is also there that Petrobras intends to install its first offshore wind project in the country, with a wind turbine tower, an anemometric tower and an electric-optical umbilical submarine cable approximately 1 km long, about 20 km off the coast of Guamaré, in a region with an average water depth between 12 m and 16 m.
In the Ceará Basin, the production of the Tuna, Curimã, Espada and Xaréu fields was regularized, which are also for sale. The conclusion of this operation may make Ceará the only state with 100% of private offshore production. Those who buy the fields can also take Petrobras’ support base in Paracuru, 75 km from the capital Fortaleza.
Close to the complex of oil and gas fields in Ceará, Neoenergia studies the installation of an offshore wind complex named Jangada, on the coast of the municipality of Amontada – a region close to the exploratory projects operated by Total, ExxonMobil, Premier Oil and Chevron, contracted in the 11th round of the ANP (2013); and Wintershall, from the 15th rounds (2018).
The shallow water divestment projects in the Northeast were launched in July 2017 and have not yet been completed. Historically, Petrobras has always had difficulties in proving the environmental viability of its projects in shallow waters in the Northeast, due to the risk of contamination on the coast and pressure in environmental protection areas.
The company has found it easier to sell projects in deep waters and in shallow waters in the Campos Basin. Petrobras has already managed to sell most of the fields in shallow water in the region.
In July, Petrobras closed the sales contracts for the Pampo and Enchova clusters, in the Campos Basin, with Trident Energy, and for the Baúna field, in Santos Basin, with Karoon. The operations represent a cash increase of U$ 1.5 billion for Petrobras, and may reach U$ 1.7 billion.
In October, it completed the sale of 100% of the Pargo, Carapeba and Vermelho fields, located in shallow waters of the Campos Basin, to Perenco. The payment of approximately US $ 324 million to Petrobras was completed, in addition to the US $ 74 million paid on signing the contracts.
Petrobras announced in April that it closed with Petronas the acquisition of 50% of the Tartaruga Verde field and module 3 of the Espadarte field. The operation is valued at US $ 1.29 billion. The operation marks Petronas’ entry into the oil production market in Brazil.
