Equinor forecasts two FPSOs for Carcará
Equinor will install two FPSO-type platforms to produce oil and gas in Carcará, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. The first production unit, with a capacity of 220,000 barrels per day of oil and 15 million m³ / day of natural gas, will be the largest in the country and should start operating by July 2024.
The first stage for the production project, however, involves the reinjection of all natural gas produced in Carcará. The second platform, which may represent a second phase of Carcará development, is still under study by the consortium led by Equinor.
Shell forecasts an FPSO for Gato do Mato
A new pipeline may also be an outlet for the natural gas produced by the Shell-operated Gato do Mato project in the area of block BM-S-54, also in the Santos Basin pre-salt. Shell is anticipating the installation of an FPSO-type platform in the region, which is expected to begin production in the third quarter of 2023, with a capacity of 90,000 barrels per day of oil and 8.5 million cubic meters per day.
Shell is studying two outlets for natural gas. The first is the injection. The second is the flow through a new offshore infrastructure pipeline already installed, which would be the PMXL-1 platform in the Mexilhão field, or the Uruguaya field production system, both in the Santos Basin.
