UP TO 13 NEW WELLS IN THE SOLIMÕES BASIN

Nov 19, 2019

The ANP granted Rosneft another four years (until 2023) to complete the second stage of the minimum exploratory programs (MEPs) of blocks SOL-T-151, SOL-T-174, SOL-T-197, SOL-T-214, SOL-T-215, SOL-T-216 and SOL-T-217 in the Solimões Basin. Asset Discovery Assessment Plans (DAPs) were also extended by the agency, with deadlines now ranging from 2020 to 2026.

The revised DAPs include, among the firm commitments, the drilling of six wells and the acquisition of 658 km of 2D seismic data and 120 km² of 3D data. Contingent commitments include drilling up to seven wells and lifting 622 km of 2D seismic, formation testing and re-entry into a well.

To date, Rosneft has drilled wells 1-RNB-2A-AM in the SOL-T-169 block, 1-RNB-4-AM in the SOL-T-191 and 3-RNB-3-AM , on the SOL-T-170 – in which, in the latter, the company made a formation test. According to the ANP, only wells 1-RNB-2A-AM and 3-RNB-3-AM found evidence, both of gas.

The three perforations used Braserv’s RNB-2 rig. In June this year the Russian company extended a contract with the company for the management and operation of rigs in the region for an additional 18 months.

Aquired in the 7th round of concessions, the seven blocks in Solimões are operated by Rosneft with a 100% stake since the PetroRio’s farm-out in 2015. In all, the Russian company has 13 blocks in the basin, with up to 60 billion m³ in contingent resources
