As anticipated by PetróleoToday, Shell began the Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste exploratory campaign, a 3rd round sharing area located in the Santos Basin. The Constellation Brava Star drillship will drill well 1-SHEL-31-RJS in a 1,720 m water depth.
The work continuous after drilling the pioneer well of Sul do Gato do Mato (operated by Shell with 80% stake) last June, with the same rig, which was hired in August 2018.
Alto de Cabo Frio Oeste was awarded to Shell (55%) in 2017, in partnership with CNOOC (20%) and QPI Brasil (25%). In addition to this asset and Sul do Gato do Mato, the Anglo-Dutch oil company operates the pre-salt Saturno area (50%) and has interests in Três Marias (40%) and Libra (20%).
