Petrobras has extended logistical support contract on the movement of flexible pipe with BHGE. The agreement of R $ 250 million will last two years, with the possibility of renewal for another year.
The activities will be carried out at the base of BHGE in Niterói (RJ), used by Petrobras since 2014, when it was inaugurated next to the flexible factory of Wellstream. The contracting of services was originally formalized in 2011 for US $ 200 million, with the company then acquired by GE O & G.
As anticipated by BE Petróleo, BHGE – the result of the combination of GE O & G and Baker Hughes – was the only company to submit a proposal in the bidding process promoted by Petrobras to contract a base for two years.
The oil company’s objective was to hire a majority base, but as the process lasted two years, the state company decided to open a tender to ensure that it would meet its demand until the new plant was available.
Negotiations for the contracting of the greenfield project are ongoing with TechnipFMC, which offered an area in the Porto do Açu, where it has a flexible line plant. The invitation to tender foresees the contracting of a base with four berths to stock up to 300 reels for five years.
