Suppliers of drill pipe risers considered risky contract model proposed by Petrobras
Weatherford was the only company to submit a proposal in a Petrobras bidding process to hire Drill Pipe Risers (DPR) systems capable of operating under pressures of up to 10,000 psi.
The classification of the bid must be published in the electronic purchasing portal of the oil company (Petronect) in the next few days.
According to the report, suppliers evaluated that the contract was risky because of factors such as the possibility of Petrobras reducing the volume of equipment contracted after twelve months from the beginning of the agreement.
There are those who believe the state-owned company will use the bid to negotiate the current DPR 10K contract with Weatherford to renew it.
Last year, Petrobras signed contracts with the US company and Oceaneering to acquire, respectively, five and three DPR 5K systems.
