Natural Gas Açu (GNA), which develops the first thermoelectric project in Porto do Açu (RJ), announced that it has closed agreements for long-term financing for the project. It also announced the contract with Siemens of € 1 billion to build and operate the GNA I UTE. In total, two financing agreements were signed: US $ 288 million with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), closed in March ; and R $ 1.76 billion in December 2018 with BNDES and KfW IPEX-Bank of Germany, which involves export financing
Siemens, a partner in the UTE GNA I project, along with BP and Plumo Logística, the parent company of Açu Port, announced a € 1 billion contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the plant. Scheduled to start operations in 2021, the GNA I (1.3 GW) will generate energy from LNG, regasified in a floating terminal (FSRU). Construction of the GNA II UTE is also planned, with 1.7 GW of installed capacity.
