CNPE cuts six blocks from the 16th round

The National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) reduced the offer of the 16th round to 36 blocks from 42, cutting areas in the Campos and Santos Basins. The round, formed by offshore areas in deep and ultra deep waters, is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year.

In the Campos Basin, blocks C-M-602, C-M-604, C-M-C-M-606 and C-M-543 were excluded. In Santos, S-M-1498 and S-M-1502. The blocks were removed because the current data indicates the possibility of future unitization, with extension of the reservoirs in an area outside the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Atlantic Ocean. Areas may return in future offers after maturing studies.

In all, the 16th round will offer more than 29 thousand km² of exploration area in the sea, in the Campos, Santos, Pernambuco-Paraíba, Camamu-Almada and Jacuípe basins. It is one of the three auctions scheduled for this year, along with the surplus of the Transfer of Rights assignment and the 6th round of the pre-salt, in these two cases, with the offer of areas within the Pre-salt Polygon, by the sharing model.
