Norwegian Equinor believes that it is possible to reduce breakeven of the Carcará field in the Santos Basin. According to the company’s head of operations in Brazil, Margareth Øvrum, it is possible to reduce the breakeven to US $ 35 dollars per barrel. The statement was made during a capital market event in London, England.
The executive also said at the meeting on targets for another important asset, the Roncador field, in the Campos Basin. Oevrum said the asset recovery rate is currently in the 29% range, but the company’s long-term goal is 40%. She added that the company is confident it could boost its profitability in the field.
Equinor is the operator with a 76% stake in the BM-S-8 offshore block in the Santos Basin, which contains a significant part of the Carcará field, one of the largest pre-salt discoveries in recent years. In Roncador, the Norwegian company holds a 25% stake acquired from Petrobras last year.
