Announcement issued by Petrobras foresees acquisition of approximately 60 km of lines for the field of Mero, in Libra
Petrobras has launched a tender to contract steel umbilicals (STUs) for the Mero field in the Libra area of the Santos Basin pre-salt. The announcement provides for the purchase of approximately 60 km of lines, with 88% of minimum purchase commitment.
The minimum local content established is 55%, but it is still unclear among the suppliers whether this portion will be sold domestically or via Repetro-SPED. The delivery of the proposals is scheduled for January 11, 2019.
In early August, Petrobras opened a process to pre-qualify STU suppliers. The scope consists of bundles of metallic tubes combined or not with electrical and / or optical cables consisting of polymer layers and various structural reinforcement.
“The structure has to be qualified. We need to submit a certificate for qualification issued by third party, “explained one company executive.
The main umbilical suppliers in Brazil are MfX, Oceaneering and Prysmian, but Norwegian Aker Solutions will also enter the dispute for the supply of STUs in the country.
