Offshore surface vehicles (USVs) will be designed to operate on offshore data

Fugro has signed an agreement with ASV Global to develop autonomous technology vessels. The goal of the partnership is to create a new generation of autonomous surface vehicles (USVs) to operate in the data search market. The delivery of the first USV, designed for medium to large-scale hydrographic surveying applications, is scheduled for the second quarter of 2019.

“We believe that, over time, a significant part of our offshore business can be optimized with the use of remote and standalone technology. Through this partnership, we want to reduce team exposure and make operations more efficient, “said Wim Herijgers, Innovation Director at Fugro.

ASV Global is a leading British company in the field of autonomous craft technology. The company designs, builds and operates USVs.
