Karoon in negotiations for Bauna

Petrobras assets demobilization program is expected to advance some yards still in the twilight of the Temer government. It seems that Karoon has opened negotiations for the Baúna field in the Santos Basin . It is estimated that the operation could reach the house of US $ 1 billion.

At the beginning of last year, Karoon was in dispute for the acquisition not only of Baúna but also of the field of Tartaruga Verde. The operation, however, was suspended due to a lawsuit filed by the Sergipe oil tankers’ union. Curiously, at the time, besides the legal imbroglio, the board of the state-owned company decided not to take the business further considering the proposal of the Australians “inconsistent” and fraught with uncertainties.

Who changed their mind, Petrobras or Karoon?

The Australians, by the way, live a moment of strong offensive in Brazil. On another front, Karoon is negotiating to buy the stake of China’s Sinochem in the Peregrino field in the Campos Basin. The asset could be valued at more than U$ 3.5 billion. Peregrino’s production is at 100,000 barrels per day.
