CNPE approves 5th pre-salt auction

May 4, 2018

The National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) approved this Friday the 5th pre-salt auction to be held on October 28. The auction still needs the sanction of President Michel Temer and should offer the areas of Saturn, Titan, Pau-Brasil and Southwest of Tartaruga Verde, located in the Campos and Santos basins, within the Pre-salt Polygon and in a declared strategic area.

The SM-534 and SM-645 blocks, taken from the 15th round of the ANP, and the Saturn area, which was scheduled for the 4th round of the pre-salt in June, joined and formed the areas of Saturn and Titan . The areas tend to be the most attractive of the September auction.

Petrobras will have 30 days to express the right of preferences on the areas after the publication of the CNPE resolution authorizing the auction in the Official Gazette of the Union.

The 5th round of the pre-salt is part of an agreement signed by the MME, ANP and the Federal Court of Audit (TCU) to make the competition viable after the TCU determined the removal of the blocks from the 15th round.

The areas that would be offered in the 5th pre-salt auction, which was scheduled for the second half of 2019, will be offered in the 6th pre-salt auction, scheduled for the same date.
