Petrobras, operator of the Libra Consortium, started the competitive process to contract the charter of the second definitive production system of Campo de Mero. Campo de Mero is located in the northwest area of the Libra block, about 180 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin.

The platform will be an FPSO (a unit that produces, stores and transfers oil and gas) with the capacity to produce 180,000 bpd of oil and process 12 million m3 / day of gas and will be installed in the Mero 2 project in water depth of about 2,000 meters.

The unit, with characteristics similar to the Mero 1 project – the first definitive production system of the field – will have some optimizations implemented. The start of production of the platform is planned for 2022.

Production in the Libra block began in November 2017, with the launch of the FPSO Pioneiro de Libra, dedicated to long-term testing and early production systems.

The Libra consortium is led by Petrobras – with a 40% stake – in partnership with Shell (20%); Total (20%); CNPC (10%) and CNOOC Limited (10%), with Pre-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) as manager of the Production Sharing Agreement.
