TRANSOCEAN AND DIAMOND SHOWING INTEREST IN BRAZIL

Two major international rig operators, Transocean and Diamond, released their results for the first half and commented on their outlook for Brazil. Executives of both companies showed optimism about the possibilities of new foreign investments in the country that are emerging on the horizon.

The senior vice president of Diamond, Ronald Woll, said during an investor conference, that changes in legislation may open up new avenues beyond Petrobras. “So I think in the long term, Brazil is clearly important when you are talking about deep and ultra-deep,” he added.

As for the Senior Vice President of Transocean, Terry Bonno, the sale of 66% of Petrobras’ participation in the BM-S-8 block to the Norwegian Statoil “clearly demonstrates a positive change for the opening that will allow the participation of International oil companies in these important projects. “
