Nov. 5 (PN) New developments from Petrobras in the Campos Basin: the company has begun drilling the second well in the Norte de Brava block, according to data provided by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). The well, technically identified as 9-BRSA-1406D-RJS, is being drilled in a water depth of 603 meters.
This new well in the block has been classified as “special”—a category that encompasses wells intended for specific objectives outside the scope of conventional exploration and production, such as pilot wells for horizontal drilling, water intake or disposal, blowout control, and observation activities.
The first well in the Norte de Brava block was completed by the state-owned company last year. At that time, Petrobras announced the discovery of hydrocarbons in the exploratory well 1-BRSA-1394-RJS. According to the company, the presence of hydrocarbons was confirmed through electric logs, signs of gas, and fluid samples.
The Norte de Brava block was acquired by Petrobras in December 2022 during the first cycle of the Permanent Offer for Production Sharing, conducted by the ANP under the production-sharing regime. Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) serves as the contract manager. Petrobras is the operator of the area and holds a 100% interest.
