April 30 (Reuters) – Brazil will announce an increase in the mandatory ethanol mix in gasoline to 32% from 30% in the coming days, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Thursday, also noting that the biodiesel blend is set to be raised to 16% from 15%.
The Energy and Mines Ministry had previously said a proposal to raise the mandatory ethanol blend to 32% would be considered at a meeting scheduled for May 7, adding that such increase would result in Brazilian self-sufficiency in gasoline production.
However, any increase in the biodiesel blend to 16% from 15% would require additional tests, authorities have said previously.
